    2011 R1200RT oil fill cap tool fail

    So this can't be right. Do I really need to remove the side panel to use this tool? I can get the cap off with a screwdriver and flexing up the side panel but that also seems wrong.

    Is the problem the aftermarket engine cover the bike came with?

    That valve cover isn't the normal OEM one. That's your problem.
