I just witnessed this on I-25 in Denver a short time ago. With an 18 wheeler semi, of all things. Crazy stuff!

Sorry to hear about the accident, I hope you heal quickly.

If I see it so often, traffic enforcement should be seeing it as well.

Makes the case for staying in the far left lane on busy divided freeways to completely eliminate this potential issue. The last time this happened to me was in LA area when someone exiting from the 3rd or 4th lane over at the last minute while I was driving a u-haul truck in the slow lane, and the kid almost hit me. I'm in the far left lane now when possible when riding until it's time to exit then move into the exit lane. Staying off of busy metro area freeways is the name of the game for me, but fortunately I don't have to commute.

I think you have to move into the exit lane before you exit now don't you?

The turtle vest looks like a bit of a hassle to use but should add significant protection in certain types of crash scenarios.

They also have a mesh coat, a leather coat and a women coat with the turtle vest built in!

It's tempting me for sure. For about the same cost as engine and side case crash protection you can protect yourself in a meaningful way. I'm concerned probably more about deer strikes than anything and this is the kind of protection that seems like it has a pretty good shot at being effective on something like going own on a deer strike. I think if one is advocating ATAGATT then doesn't use this device they need to start advocating SOTGATT instead!
