Africa? A stunningly beautiful, addictive continent, or dark and dangerous?

Join us at Motorcycles of Charlotte on Wednesday October 2nd for an open house presentation evening with Round the World motorcyclist and author Sam Manicom.

Sam’s presentation is going to take you riding through a magnificent land - Africa.

Many consider Africa to be a region of the world where it’s the norm to shoot first and ask questions later; where corruption and poverty rule. The truth? No smoke without fire?

6,500 miles top to bottom? Not when you are on a motorcycle and have the freedom of the road. Be warned though, Sam is a disaster magnet. If something wants to go wrong, it finds him.

You’ll be taken to jail, to hospital, along remote desert and jungle tracks and Sam will explain how a biker’s guardian angel is one of the necessities of a long ride through ever-changing, fascinating yet demanding lands. Lands where humankind began and where the skills of a motorcyclist are never challenged harder.

You’ll be dropped into the depths of the giant Rift Valley. You’ll meet locals who will have you laughing, a very upset Brigadier General, a chief’s wife who will surprise you and you’ll have the heat and the scents of Africa brought alive. A magical, stunningly beautiful, addictive continent.

*** NEWS For the first time at a presentation evening in the USA, Sam’s partner Birgit will be with us.
Birgit and Sam rode together for 4 years of the 8-year RTW journey; Southern Africa, South and Central America, and on up through North America. This plucky girl started her ride with Sam on her own motorcycle; a 1971 BMW R60/5. The day she rolled her wheels in Africa for the first time she had just 600 miles of experience as a motorcycle rider.

Sam and Birgit will also have copies of their 4 books with them for a book signing session. Cash only please.
