2016 GTL Starter not engaging everytime...

Jon

Wave to motorcycle cops
I have a 2016 GTL, purchased new, 22K miles, regular service by dealer. The starter just began not engaging with every push of the start button. I hear the starter spinning, just not grabbing, when it does engine starts immediately. Sometimes spins once....the most.....4 or 5 times. Any suggestions?

Common issue, the sprag clutch needs to be replaced. please see the following thread on the K1600 forums;

Common but doesn't necessarily mean it's going to fail tomorrow. it could be fine for years before failing. If it's not doing it every time, I'd let it be for now. Unless you are replacing the sprag clutch yourself, it's an expensive repair and not something I'd do as recreational maintenance.

Thank you very much
