hi all.. got paranoid with my FD.. so.. i drained gear oil..drain plug looks good, no metal.. thank god.. the gear oil only has 1k on it.. i put back in.. . i used 75/90, some spilled and I'm low .. can i top off with 75/140? thanks.

75w140 is out of spec. Sure - a tiny bit might not make much difference but the correct gear oil is available at virtually any auto parts store, Walmart, k mart, or Ace or True Value hardware store in the United States.

thank you Paul.. i will get some tomorrow to top off.. I've always used bmw.. can you give me the specs to stick to? 75/90 GL4? thanks

GL5 only, either 80W90 or 75W90. I prefer Castrol brand "Limited Slip" 80W90 because the the high sulfur content. Penzoil is also OK and may be easier to find.
