Cyclops turn signals

I've been told by my dealer that inspite of what may be advertised the Weiser LED turn signals can throw codes and create issues with software upgrades. I've been asking about the Cyclops and so far have not received any info that they suffer the same challenges. Can anyone provide any additional insight? I would like to upgrade the turn signals to the LED running and signal combination but don't want to create more problems.

You didn’t indicate which bike you’re planning on upgrading, but I have seen no issues on my 2018 GS since adding the Weiser lights front and rear. I specifically asked about the led inserts and whether they would prompt complaints from the Canbus system and was told the resistance and current draw on the inserts had been matched to that of the OEM bulbs. The new Weiser kits with the solid state relay connect to the bike wiring in only 4 places— positive and negative at the battery and a tap connection to the brake light and taillight. If Canbus thought there was an issue with brake or tail lights it would throw a warning light on the dash.

My most frequent riding partner has had Weiser lights on his R1200RS almost since new, and through several dealer services. No codes or issues reported on his bike, either. If your dealer says they’ve found codes directly traceable to the Weisers I’d ask what codes were thrown. Their experience with the Weisers may have been on a bike that had other things going on electrically.

Best,
DeVern

Had no issues with my 2011 1200gs

Thanks for the input everyone. I have a R1250GS but the dealer was reporting issues with numerous other bikes, not all 2019's. I was interested in the combo running lights and turn signals, which is what they referenced as having issues with codes. I really like the lights so may just have to roll the dice. Thanks again for the feedback.

I have the combo on my 2016 GSA. Works great no codes.

I have the basic Weiser LED (turn signals only) on my r1250GS with no issues so far. I went with Baja Designs running and additional brake lights from Denali connected through the ezCan and everything is working like a charm after my first service a few weeks back.
