Hi
I am interested in buying a code reader looking for best one for a 2007 R1200RT ?
Abs light on , but wouldn’t mind if it worked other vehicles GM Honda etc

If you have an android phone you can use the Motoscan app with an ELM 327 OBD II Bluetooth reader and the appropriate 10-pin interface cable to hook into your bike.

Some info on Motoscan:

ScanTool OBDLink LX Bluetooth:... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H9S71LW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I know this particular one works great; be careful because there are some cheap Chinese knockoffs that do not.

OBD2 Diagnostic Cable for BMW... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075K7MQFC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Same remarks apply to the cable; this one worked with my BMW bikes.

Cost for the hardware above is about $70; the app costs from $29-59USD Depending on which version of the app you get (Pro or Ultimate).

I have a GS-911 Wifi version - and also use the Motoscan app with my android device. For most jobs on a Hexhead the Motoscan/OBD II solution works just fine, and I can use the scanner with some of my cars/trucks as well (with a different app like Torque).

I’ve used the android solution I detailed above on a 2006,2007, 2008 and a 2009 R1200 RT... and it’s a good option if you don’t have $400 laying around to buy a GS-911.

Will Motoscan do everything GS-911 does? No. Will it do most of the stuff we want to do like reset service counters, test displays and actuators and other service functions? Yes.

Don't forget that the GS911 can read an error code without consuming a VIN number, so you may want to ask around in your local club to see if you can borrow one to see what the code exactly is.

Are you wondering why the ABS light is on? Does it come on solid when you turn key or crank bike? (ABS pump gone) Or....does it flash normally until you pull off and then come on solid? (ABS pump going, can get some extra life out of it by whacking the pump with a mallet)

Ok
Have done that with electric window motors and they have worked for years after
Will try it
It’s going to the dealer for tires so will have them check it for codes
Decided not to buy code reader for now

If it is the ABS pump then before you shell out the $2300 + labor check out http://modulemaster.com. They repaired mine for $250, with a 5 year warranty.

There are some modes of fail they can not fix.
