“There is no such thing as a free lunch” seems to ring true again.......if half of this report is accurate. Oh yeah, Facebook is “free” as well.

The only thing "free" is the information you give away. Eventually, businesses will return to something like air-gapped mainframe systems to preserve privacy.

In many ways, our current system is equivalent to everyone being on a telephone "party-line" or allowing the mailman/milkman to walk into your house. Pretty much, no protection of our information in exchange for some convenience/entertainment.
