BMW disappearing from Tour de France duty?

Could also be Yamaha wrote them a much bigger check. TDF is a HUGE marketing gold mine. It's like the Superbowl; one year it's Pepsi the next year it's Coke.

Hard to believe BMW has written them any checks in quite a few years. The BMW bikes appear to all be pre-wethead.

An Era of BMW with the Tour de France Ends

Anyone else following the Tour de France? It used to be that the job of support and camera bikes was filled almost exclusively by BMW R1200RTs; but this year there are a LOT of Yamaha Nikens. Are they better for the job - or did Yamaha just make the riders a great offer? Any ideas?

It is a sad day indeed! I always looked forward to see the fleet of RT's & GS's working in the Tour de France. Yamaha needs more exposure since Rossi and Viñales aren't winning!

Here's how stable they are!! https://www.facebook.com/NoAlTC/videos/1244444309063225/

I'd ask that salesman for a demonstration to back that claim up with actual results. :wave

I can see them being more stable in an edge trap situation. I don’t think the edge trap is what caused the fall in the video; it looks like the rider got over that better than a regular MC would have.
