Unhappy Find an MOA rider w/MD to consult on MC injury...

This may seem off the wall, but desperation at how rt/hip joint pain is killing my long distance riding.

Need to find neuro surgeon who might be familiar with an injury I received 4 years ago on a ZX12R. No crash, just ran over 4 or 5 waves in a 50 year old road at speed that slammed the rock hard seat w/super hard suspension up to my butt unexpectedly. It absolutely shook everything down low. Didn't go down but two days later right hip socket and buttock were on fire. Need consult with neuro who rides long distance to consult. Anywhere. Thanks ever so...Popeye

    Pain!

I'm not a neurosurgeon, but I suspect a compression fracture or similar of sacral vertebra, causing pressure on a nerve root. MRI would probably confirm diagnosis. Since pain has persisted, I would recommend you have this evaluated -with goal of allowing you to ride (and live) without pain.

Ditto on MRI, (I'm not a doctor)

    What else causes this pain?

    What makes it better/worse?

What have you done to relieve pain?

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the worst and what was that) how do you rate your current pain?

    Unhappy Finding Neuro who rides...

Did bone scan MRI/CAT 2 years ago. Dr saw no damage to bones. Symptoms - if don't use right leg except to walk around and sit, pain goes away. However if use right leg to push up off floor for example, put bike on centerstand, sit on bike seat and push up off it with pegs, plant right foot on ground and turn body/trunk to left and hip socket seems like is coming apart. Any time use right leg&buttock it kicks off the pain. All down my leg to knee on top of thigh it aches. Can reduce ache by arching back and stick my butt out. So I agree nerve roots are at least one issue. That's why need Dr who is rider so he/she will be more interested in finding a way to manage this. Don't want to stop riding or will get old and croak...Motrin and lots of aspirin...careful movement...have ride to Colorado coming with son and not enjoying thought of all that aching right leg and hip...Need to find solution from Dr. who cares and is curious too...thanks mates...

Sounds like a Sacral-Iliac disassociation (sic) I had that. (That's the floating joint in your hip)

You may only need to see a Chiropractor and get straightend out. I lived with some thing like that for some time.

    Good luck

you might want to post this up in campfire for more responses.

"how do I . . . ." is more focused on doing something pertaining to the forum like posting a photo or changing user info, etc.

What the...? Since when does an MD prescribe treatment by a chiropractor? Or are you a DO?

Fred, I'm not a Doctor I've clearly stated that a number of times. I am not prescribing any treatment only alternative methods. And since the military has Chiropractors sure, this is a viable alternative to surgery.

Anyway six or seven visits and prescribed strength training exercises help put me back together after a bad parachute landing.

PS. I don't know how you can 'prescribe' treatment over an internet web forum?

I was a Special Forces Medical Sergeant / NREMT-Paramedic ACLS/ATLS/PHTLS certified monster of the medical profession. I did at the time 'Practice Medicine' under a Doctors 'license' in far away places, unless you were in the military then I could do what ever you needed for 'Life Support' anywhere, stateside too.

    EDIT:
Don't suppose you remember gbmlaw and myself going at it over 'closed head injuries' do you?

Just trying to help a fellow rider.

Smile Signed up @ U. Florida Neuro

Got tip to try Univ Fla Med School. Located sign up sheet for appointment and signed up. No idea how long will take, but is a start. However is much better than being herded among 50 other cattle (with insurance) and sped on my way to make room for 50 more. At least these residents may not have lost that special thing that made them seek an MD behind their names...thanks mates...

    Whoa,

    Thanks for the condescending attitude!!!

I guess IÔÇÖm wrong about a lot of things, I thought you were beyond reproach ÔÇÿFredÔÇÖ guess I was wrong about that too.

Anyone else out there want to ask me about: riding, maintenance, safety, having fun, medical ÔÇ£OPINIONSÔÇØ, or where to go for a great afternoon ride in Washington???

    Dont ask me.

Fred you just joined gbmlaw on my ÔÇÿIgnore ListÔÇÖ

    Good thing this wasnt ADVrider.

I came here for the fun of riding motorcycles and sharing ideas and places to go with like minded people. But I can see more and more clearly those ideas are not welcome here any longer. This forum really is going 'Over the Hill'

    Popeye,

I wish you the best and hope that you find a solution to your pain. It can be aggravating when it interferes with something you like or enjoy doing.

You didnÔÇÖt start anything, so donÔÇÖt feel bad about how it turned out. It happens here when people are cooped up for winter. ItÔÇÖs unfortunate.

Again, hope you find the right answer.
