    K1200S Rear Shock Nitrogen Recharge?

    Good day, Gentlemen.

I wish to recharge the rear shock on my ESA-equipped bike. I've pulled the rubber plug off the reservoir but what greets me is a bolt - not a schrader valve.

Does anyone know what size schrader valve I can use to replace the bolt and recharge my shock? Would it be a metric thread or SAE? As well, I need some guidance on what PSI to fill the reservoir. As a rule of thumb I'd guess 200 psi but its a BMW so that's probably wrong.

As always, your input / solutions / wisecracks are appreciated!

    Follow up.....

I went to my local suspension guru who replaced the original reservoir fitting with one that he could work with and then recharged the shock with nitrogen. Had to drill and tap new threads for the new fitting. Total cost was $75 and he did it with the shock still mounted on the bike. Result is that rebound damping is more evident, especially on the COMF setting which was pretty much non-functional from a damping perspective previously.

Interestingly, when I called my dealer to enquire if they could recharge the shock, the service writer's canned response was, "That shock is non-serviceable. You have to replace the assembly." I suggested to him that he learn a little about shock absorbers before he asks his customers to spend $3,150 plus multiple hours of labour.
