There are some good pie places in Montana as there are in every state. The secret seems to be to use real lard in the crust. My favorite is the Avon Cafe in Avon, MT.

There you go; just picture many of us making a note: Avon Mt.... The Cafe.

It will be the joint with BMW motorbikes parked in front, draped in synthetic fabric amour jackets with helmets precariously hanging.

Iíve been to 9 of these places, perhaps more. The Crazy Mtn Inn is the most notable of the bunch with the Wake Up Cafe a close second. The fact that Avon is not on the list makes me suspect the rigor of the research under pinning the listís development. Perhaps you can organize a double blind study to confirm or deny the validity of the list. Volunteers will be needed.

HA ! So sounds like a "pie" scavenger hunt! I wonder if "pie taster" is on the Volunteer List?

    Lightbulb

I've been crawling out of tents at the annual rally for more than decade and watching hungry folks line up for mostly sup-par breakfast,
usually from under prepared food vendors.

Sure hope this year a transportation to town initiative brings us better options... and if diner PIE is offered; all the better!

    John,
Not to dash your hopes, but dedicated shuttle transportation from/to a rally site to/from "town", especially to cover multiple locations like different restaurants and hotels, is just prohibitively expensive.

At Des Moines city buses ran from the fairgrounds to downtown Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
I don't remember if MOA paid for this or if passengers paid the regular bus fare.

Here's routes for Great Falls city buses.

You all may have missed an announcement a while back. Details will be forthcoming in the fullness of time I imagine.

"The rally site, The Montana Expo Park, gives visitors the feeling of a large city park with lots of trees and grass for camping. Great Falls is excited to have us, so much so in fact, that they are providing a free trolley to take rally goers from the Expo Park to the downtown area and the many restaurants, breweries and other sights found there."

I'm seeing a bar, restaurants and eating places all around the park.
