Battery for 2015 R1200RT

The BMW battery (Exide) is very expensive and a tight fit. I cannot find a listing of its dimensions.

What other battery(ies) can fit into that space?

In my opinion, do not fail to use a lithium battery. I have had several. They work great an save several pounds.

Another Option

Hi,
Not my post but the one I'm planning on buying when mine goes.

"I recently purchased and installed this battery from batterymart.com. It is nearly identical to the OEM in my 2014 R1200RT. Battery terminals are the same and in the same place. Dimensions are the same. I think that this is a very good replacement for the original. AGM technology and 2 more AH than the stocker. $89.95 delivered to my door! They list it as YTX20CH-BS AGM http://www.batterymart.com/SEARCH.html?q=ytx20ch-bs"

Always amazed at this comment. Have you ever seen a Lithium battery fire? Do you want to trust that will never happen directly under you seat or gas tank?

That thought has certainly crossed my mind as well... I think the weight penalty of the old school battery might be worth it.

I've generally had better luck with the OEM batteries. It's one of the few things I purchase from the dealer.

I support my dealer vigorously as well. It is one of the few exclusive BMW-only dealers left in the United States and I want it to be successful.
