Interesting Geology Lecture on Supervolcanoes and the NW

    Here:

Has some information on the bewildering geology seen in the western US...

    Somewhat related, earthquake maps -

http://scedc.caltech.edu/recent/ - shows California and Nevada; squares are clickable links for details.

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/ - for everywhere... Start with the "gear" (settings) symbol at the top right; I usually select "7 days, magnitude 2.5+" to populate the map but not over-crowd it; then click back & forth on the List, Map, and Settings icons to get a full-screen view (I've never figured out if there's a trick or shortcut for this); then you can use the +/- to zoom in and out, or you can Drag the map around to re-center the view.

Here's another one on earthquakes in the NW.

These are the kind of TV programs I watch when I can find them...

Many thanks for posting, Harry! I learned more about the geology of the Pacific Northwest from this and Professor Nick's web site articles in a few hours than from a lifetime of other sources. Grazie millie!

    You're welcome.

My sister just moved to Oregon and I expect to visit her and my brother in Kent, WA.

I've always had an interest in geology.
