Question 2013 r1200rt Left Cylinder Cam Chain Tensioner ???

ok, changed the clutch and rear main seal...

now the big question....is the left side cam chain tensioner a complete assembly, meaning if i pull it out to change the crush gasket will it come out complete or in pieces....?

thanks wise ones for your advice...

The tensioner will come out in 3 pieces, the body the spring and the tensioner barrel. The tensioner is rather difficult to get back in. I needed to buy the 15 mm ratchet box wrench so that you could push down on the top of the tensioner to compress the spring while you turn it. I tried for about 1 hour to get it in without the ratchet box wrench but gave up with very sore fingers and went to the store and bought the set. The thread on the tensioner is very fine and you need to be very careful not to cross the threads.
My advice is if the crush washer is not leaking do not take it out just to change the washer.

I believe this photo shows the difference between the older and newer style.

I agree. That's a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kinda deal...

Short answer. It will come out in pieces.
