    Ford GT sighting

Was reading Bench Racing this morning...thanks again mika!, and saw the article on the Ford supercars latest iteration.

    https://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-ne...-ar184702.html

We had one sitting in our town square last week and only a few old fellas like me noticed it. What a piece of art and performance...and a crazy price. I was waiting for a proximity alarm to sound when I was peeking into the rear window at the engine.

In my town, the BMW car dealership and BMW bike dealership are combined.

Once a month there's a "Cars and Coffee," and stuff like this fairly regularly shows up. The dealer himself owns an M1.

During the late Cocaine 80's in ATX, not seeing a high end car was rare running the local roads. Had some Tech and real estate aquaintances that always seemed to be out Ferrari'ng/Lamb-oing each other. Was fun to watch them spend stupid money. Mercedes, Bimmers, and Porches were so plentiful, you rarely did a head turn regardless of model.

This current GT's price jumped 50K from the 2017 model just for grins...and a lot of CF.

When this McClaren buzzed by me a few weeks ago, I had a flashback of that time

The Ford GT that won the 2016 Le Mans race (50th anniversary of 1966 win) was on display at Ford World HQ in Dearborn after the win. It was fun to get up close to the actual winning car. They clearly had done nothing to it since the win as it was covered with bits of rubber and certainly looked like it had been run hard for 24 hours!

In the middle 70ís I had a chance to by a Sunbeam Tiger for $750, I still periodically kick myself.

Several of the Ford NASCAR drivers have brought the GT's they own by the engine shop I work at. Kurt Bush left his at the shop for a week so Doug Yates our CEO could drive it. It was nice to get to look at it up close for a week.
