2019 NASCAR Schedule and Enthusiasts thread

Well, I almost hate to start another NASCAR thread......due to the unnecessary sniping and complaining that pretty much ruined the past few years threads.
PLEASE, if you hate NASCAR, think the speedways should be turned into condos, like everything but those damn burnouts think it's a waste of gasoline- just move along......This thread isn't for you.

Anyway, I'm going to try to keep up with the schedule including the networks the events will be televised on.

I was at the NASCAR Hall of Fame for induction of the 2019 class Friday. My former boss Roger Penske & my current boss Jack Roush along with Davey Allision Jeff Gordon & Alan Kulwiki were the class of 2019. This is my 46th year working in the racing industry.

It is!!! Sitting here 47.5 miles south (nav 5 #'s) of the Stadium (aka... Speedway) at 75 degrees; AND its Just 6 days until the action.

Wonderful HOF Induction the other night. Still wondering how the France family, Daytona, and NASCAR itself, let the Hall Of Fame get away from...
the World Center of Racing at Daytona?
They've actually build a "shopping meca", anchored by a Bass Pro store on the HOF's intended property across from the track and speedway museum.
    Nothing against Char-town though.

Yes it was Gary, It is a live televised event. During the commercials they interview people that worked for or had direct connections to the inductees. You get to see so much more in person than what you see on TV. These are the rings that the inductees receive.

The Lucas Oil 200 ARCA race is on now. Must be quite a thrill to be 18 years old and racing at Daytona.
    OM

EDIT- And an 18 year old wins!!

Watching nervous mom Burton was part of fun. Did not know they use the same engine mfg for all teams, haven't kept up with that series rules. Maybe changed recently Nice to see a series sponsor like Menards.
The composite bodies helped, but still some serious carnage. Also some competitive young women in good equipment, very cool.

They mentioned there was one legacy engine but as they all seemed to be going 180 mph+, I don’t know what the difference is. Burton’s mom was really into it for sure. It’s nice to see the women rolling at 180+ as well.
I think the only new rule I picked up on was on last 3 lap OT restarts.

Guess I am behind in the series news...

Menards sponsorship and Ilmor engines have been in place for a few seasons.396ci fuel injected 700HP

Every time I hear 700 or 800 horsepower......and 8,000 rpm I think of valve train movement
There is a clash race later today.

    Spoiler alert

Well, that was a crazy clash, and I don't think JJ touched the 21 with his bumper, just air...but that's close pack racing. Sure was a lot of dollars mangled and three out of twenty cars were left.

Come on Thursday, I used to have to sneek home early to watch pre DVR when the duels were mid day. Earnhardt usually won his. Then later I had an office and cable and I just closed my door.
Now it starts when the evening news is on.

So the gen 6 body is the same for 2019, only the names of the bodies are changed? Supra, mustang etc.? Cool. The commentators were asking, "How's that new mustang handling?" Well the new stickers are working good. Other than that, it was fun to hear them cranked up, and the rain was a bummer. Hail out at Pebble Beach. Mickelson leads, finish tomorrow. Global warming. My cousin is buried in Seattle. Nothing new here, just more beautiful snow. And got a real nice set of lifters and pushrods from Roland. Over and out.

Not an expert nor staying at a Holiday Inn...

The COT car was the same generic body and only stickers made a cosmetic difference...boring and not a fan
The gen 6 did allow OEM style on side panels, nose and tail, wheel opening flares and the openings on the opera window dimensions. The Fusions were probably stripped and reskinned as Mustangs on current stock. Looking at the sides of the different brands, there is a difference from the COT templates and previous Gen versions. There is a 2013 Fusion template side by side with a 2012 I couldn't copy, showing body differences
They talked a lot about the rear bumper and noses of different brands lining up different...or not when bump drafting. Looks like the Chevy pointed nose can cause issues for the others.
If a piece of tape can affect aero, imagine any changes like rear bumpers and nose design would make a difference in how a car drives from a previous iteration.

I recall the furor of Jack Roush and others about wind tunnel results between makes prior to the COT with different spoiler heights allowed to even the game at different tracks. The front bumper/nose was challenged as too much advantage for the Dodge or Pontiac.

I recall NASCAR going to fuel injection in the recent past, but are they still running push rod engines or are they all overhead cam these days?
