    2012 GS power consuption/watts/amps questions

I have two rigid D2's on the bike, run a small mp3 player, gps and was wondering if the alternator output has enough left in watts or amps to run heated gear?

Would people suggest I use the canbus or direct to batt. like the sae I use for the mp3?

I'm not sure how much my GS can handle without stressing the system or draining the batt. Can I run the D2's full time, I've been hesitant to do so with the gps and mp3 running

    Thanks

    You will be fine.
I always recommend direct to the battery. A direct to the battery connection takes a lot of the wondering out of the equation.

    Your welcome

    Further-
In AC current- 1000 watts divided by 120 volts (regular house voltage) = 8.33 amps

    In DC current- 24 watts x2= 48watts divided 12 volts = 4amps

With the cold, wettest fall on record around here, rather bleak riding conditions, there has been a lot of curiosity on hooking up electric gear. I have the same on the F800GS as I have with the ATV- a Battery Tender pig-tail and a coaxial heated gear connector.

Clearwater Lights™ Darla lights are high powered, fully adjustable LED lights that provide longer life and lower power consumption than other light systems. With a housing only 2" in diameter, we have packed over 2000 lumens into each light while utilizing only 24 watts
