New Tires Installed - Lesson Learned!

    Albeit, the hard way.................

I bought some new tires for my 2012 K1300S and was going to have Bob's install them. The logistics of that proved to be a bit complicated so I called the dealer where I purchased the bike.
"Sure, thing. Bring it by", they said.
Dropped bike off and got it back last Thursday.
Rear seems to be a touch out-of-balance.
Saturday, I was detailing it and I noticed 5-6 large chips in the dark grey wheel paint, along the edge of the wheel.

I've known the guy for several years and I'm REALLY disappointed about this.

Good lesson learned. I have a tire specialist on retainer (not really, that's a joke) and he is worth every penny. I believe the tires are the single most important part of any vehicle.

    Good luck.

Black 103 is the only reference in parts fiche under the wheels group I could find. The other color option was asphalt gray and no paint number in the fiche.
Did notice the rims are $1300 dollars each these days, replaced one in 06 for half that price.Crazy.

Sorry about the rims...I use a NoMar to avoid any metal rim clamp contact. I have marks on a yellow rim from the first owner of one of our bikes that look like a meat tenderizer was used

Steve the code for the dark gray wheels is ASPHALT-GRAY METALLIC MATT WM17 :
I can't tell if the wheel in the above picture is black or asphalt gray.

The wheels on or red K1300Ss were asphalt gray.

I can't remember if that color S came with black or gray wheels.
Normally the black wheels were gloss black.

The rims are Asphalt Gray. I managed to locate a source for touchup paint. Holt Design (formerly Holt BMW) in Ohio.
    It should arrive tomorrow.

    Already have the clear.

Holt is a good place for paint. Also a good place if you have questions on paint.

They were very helpful. At least something positive was gained through this!

I know where to go now, if I ever need paint. The only issue was they can only send me 44 grams, for the touchup, due to Hazmat regulations. That will be plenty for what I need.
