    Uni Air Filter

I have a 2010 f650gs Twin that I purchased used. It came with a uni foam air filter that I think was installed upside down. The two foam socks were placed pointing down so that air is sucked from the inside of the filters. This seams wrong to me. Harder to clean inside the filter and less surface area to trap dust. Also this is backwards from the simple foam sock on a carburetor. Am I wrong?

No idea if it is installed correctly, but going back to an OEM or Mahle (identical to OEM) filter would be a good idea. One less thing to worry about and the one you have is quite likely a false economy and sham performance enhancement.

Thanks for your input. If I didnít do most of my riding on unpaved roads I would do that but a properly oiled foam filter works better than paper filters. If I canít an answer I will be going to paper though.

I agree - it does look different, but here is the install sheet

Touratech sells Uni, so you could always give them a call to double check.
