On the fork legs or brake calipers.
    Under the oil cooler.

I found lights under the cooler sometimes made contact and marks on the fender. As well the triangle is rather small. Therefore I removed mine and sold the bracket holding the lights.

Instead, I removed my BMW emblems and mounted my lights in that indentation. I then placed smaller versions of the removed items along the side panels. This separation of the three lights (and even more so with a LED headlamp) gives the appearance of a train moving along the road.

(Note: even though I know the correct terminology for "BMW emblems", my phone's spell checker refuses to allow its' spelling. )

I'll try to find and post a picture tomorrow.

Thanks, I was wondering about doing that on the fairing, a picture would be great. Did you just put some kind of backing plate behind the fairing?

I figured back in 2010 that if I or a new owner did not like the location of the lights, the holes drilled into the body work would be hidden by replacing the rondals. My PIAA lights mounted flush to the body work but these bulbs are due to burn out in the near future, and since replacements no longer exist, I know that I will have to mount new lights at this location. Even if they should not be flush mounted ones, I doubt if mounting them on the body will be difficult. I have lots of photos of this bike, but unfortunately, none to speak of from the front and since the bike is in the shop until Tuesday, I can't run out and take a head on shot of it for you. However since the body work is in the garage I took a few shots for you. I preferred the smaller roundals as I felt the larger ones made the bodywork too busy. I placed an original over the replacement to give you an idea.

When I get the bike back, I'll post a picture of it from the front.

    Cheers!

Very nice and clean and a great location for being seen. Thanks, for the pictures. I'm looking at a 1999 with 24k miles. Pretty tempting.

I'm going to add a bit to your title so others can search for it. A '99 with 24 K? sounds like a great find
