cylinder head guards/valve cover protector

Why not get the crash bars? I'd rather if something happens that the weight of the bike not end up on the engine itself, which it still would with the valve cover guards.

I will with ilium works front and rear.

It appears he has the same bars as you, plus a hole in the valve cover.

My mistake! I saw the pic with the hole, but I was so focused on the hole that I didn't even notice the bars!

I would still keep bars on there, but I guess in this case "belt and suspenders" is the way to go.
