New 1250s impact on 2018 and used bike prices

Any guesses on the impact the new bikes announcements will have on residual 2018s and used bikes prices?

Welcome to the Forums Andy! If it's any indication, BMW now has $2000 incentives on 2018 GS/GSA and RT models. Looks like the incentives cut across most of the line. Here's a screenshot from the website:

There are about eight 2018 R 1200 RT models still on showroom floors in the Atlanta market. (*hint* start with Buford location; they have only 1)

BMW annually discounts, by varying amounts, according to inventory and current US dollar value. "New" models being introduced may influence buyers' choice depending on their perception of proven & tested current model vs. potential beta testing of newer model. And of course, having the newest on the block.

Shift Cam?

Has BMW finally complicated valve clearance adjustments to the point the owner is no longer able to check? Having started on airheads, then on to hex heads, then cam heads I have reached the point where I am capable of checking the valve clearance, but don't think I would tackle actually making adjustment when it becomes necessary. I could never
afford the $1100 +- adjustment on the 6 cylinder engine. Just wonder what the cost would be to the latest technology?

Sorry for the hijack. I guess the expected increase in cost of routine maint. makes the value of the discount given on 2018 models even more attractive.

To me it appears checking the valves will be the same as the R1200 Wetheads.
Not sure if removing the cams will be harder.
