I hear West Texas is one of the best places to skip light pollution and view the stars.

I spent last Thursday night in Alpine, rode to Marfa, Presidio, lunch in Terlingua, through the park, and stopped in Ft Stockton. Saturday to Pecos, Artesia, Coudcroft for lunch, Ruidoso, and home. Pecos to Loving was a nightmare with all the oil field traffic.

Welcome. Those are some nice waypoints, except for the Permian Field part. Oil field drivers do not mess around.

Been through Littlefield a few times, depends which route we pick escaping to the west or coming home. Chuckled going through Levelland recently having just heard McMurtrys song just down the road in the helmet.

I think there are quite a few owners in west Texas. Not so many as other brands due to scarcity of dealers. Midland, Odessa, Lubbock, Abilene, and Amarillo are large populated areas with no dealers. A few have tried in Lubbock but the financial investment required by BMW Motorrad was too much. Around 300 miles or more to a dealer for most of us. Being able to do maintenance and service; along with internet parts has helped.

There some are some area owners on the K1600 forum, the GS Forum, and regional forums on AdvRider.
