R1200R "Low"

Hello Hexheads;
I have a chance to buy a low mileage 2009 R1200R, but it's the "Low" model with shorter shocks and seat. The seat is an easy fix, but my main interest is how does that factory lowered suspension affect handling, cornering, and anything else? I like the looks of the bike and the accessories it has, so that has appeal. I'm 6'00" tall, 32 inch inseam, 215 pounds. Think a "Low" model could handle me? Thanks!

I have a 2012 R1200RT, lowered by dealer. At the time I purchased it, the previous owner did not disclose that it had been lowered but it fit me well, had only 3000km, seemed like a good deal. Turned out to be a great deal. I have the undesirable proportions of 5'9", 30" inseam, and 310lbs. I have no issues keeping up to others in a group as far as cornering or dragging bike parts. I don't high centre. I usually run the suspension in the "rider with baggage" mode, increasing that to the "two up" if fully loaded or riding with my 110lb wife. I never feel the suspension is overly taxed. I've never measured the clearance, but certainly would if you were interested.

I ride H's 12R on occasion, it's not factory lowered but has aftermarket shocks and a custom seat.

If I need to ride it all day, I change the saddle out and ride away. I am 6-1 and the only issue is her V Stream windscreen is lower for my height and I get the whomp whomp buffeting in my helmet with low seat.

Have ridden a lot of curvy roads and never had an issue with handling or scraping anything.

Ended up not buying the 1200 Low. Bought back a 1995 R1100RSL I sold 7 years ago. The fellow I sold it to put on 1300 miles in those 7 years. Now 47,800 miles on a 23 year old bike. Battery was last replaced in 2008, brake fluid flush in 2011; renewed both. Changed engine oil/filter and riding it like I stole it! Knowing the service history made the purchase easy.
