First BMW - starting small

Hi - I'm "MichaelJ" on most other forums, but that seems to have been taken here. Sob...

I live in northern Virginia and have been riding since about 1961 - details hazy at this distance.

Current bikes in the stable (in order of appearance) are a 1986 Yamaha SRX-6, a 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer and a 2018 BMW G310GS (the TEx was getting too heavy to pick up).

IBA member since 1996 and an intermittent rally rider - although I seem to be volunteering more and riding less these days.
