Shifter not re-centering after each shift 09 K13GT

    Need the experts here.
Yesterday, the shifter suddenly stopped returning to center after shifting.
I had to manually move the shifter with my foot to get it so I could shift to another gear. Easy once I figured it out but obviously not correct.
Looking at it I assume the spring is inside the transmission.

Any experience regarding this issue here. I have an appointment next month to have it looked at. I am out of town until then. Curious if this will be expensive.

Does it act like it's sticking, or as if the spring force has gone?

Just dealt with an unusual shifter mechanism problem yesterday, on an R1200S. Bad selector shaft... probably the same part that is causing a problem for you. In my case the pawl was sticking, but you might have a broken centering spring.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

It is more like a stickiness. There is some return force if I just move it a little. At full travel to engage a gear it sticks.

Hopefully it is not the spring which looks difficult to replace. I did not know what other options are possible.

    Thanks...

Solution to.the shifting problem was a cleaning of the shifter joints.

    Simple as that!

    Cheers, Gordon

Good to hear it was a cheap easy fix.
