Colors other than Black!!

I've heard in the past that BMW offered different colors for /2 bikes but generally only in batch type situations. They'd get enough orders for a specific color and paint the bikes, thereby reducing the loss of paint and the issues of switching back and forth.

Does anyone have any research or information about VIN numbers and colors that BMW offered? I know it's possible to ask BMW archives about a bike but it tends to be limited to include build date, delivery location, and what type of seat it had...typically nothing on color.
