Engine number format for 1996 R1100RT

Does anyone know what the format is for the engine number on my 1996 R1100RT? It is now required in Minnesota when you change ownership and register the sale and purchase of the cycle. Of coarse in their infinite wisdom and caring, for us the tax payers, they don't tell you this until you have waited an hour and get to the counter. I found my number on lower side in front of the right cylinder. Mine is a little hard to read but I believe it is a 13 digit number, 112EA 2196 6709. Thanks, oldcarman / jim

Sounds like you have the right number. Here's an older thread and one of the posts has pictures of various number, including an engine number like yours:

So they ask for the vin and also an engine #! Do they do the same for cars and trucks?

In Minnesota, only motorcycles are required to include both vin and engine number for title transfers.

If there were not so many stolen bikes put back together with unnumbered aftermarket cases and custom frames there would never be a need for anything except a VIN.
