At times I will pull up to a stop while listening to the radio; it will shut down and a message saying "Linking" will appear on the display - what is going on?

Satellite radio is being blocked. Radio is searching for satellite signal. Happens frequently when riding in wooded terrain or in urban areas with tall buildings.

It seems that SiriusXM uses a variety of satellite and land-based/ terrestrial signal sources. I just took a look at the SiriusXM entry in WikiPedia. It's dense stuff but interesting. Here's the URL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirius_Satellite_Radio If you scroll down to "Technology" that's where the stuff about the way the signal gets to your radio is listed.

Mine does it also, usually when line of sight lost with satellites, think hills, trees, tall buildings etc

I see this happening a lot now that I've re-enabled SiriusXM - but it NEVER seems to happen on either of my two cars....
