Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and BMW motorcycle ownership, although I put 130,000 miles on a 90's 325. I bought this R1100S last month. I've lusted over this motorcycle since I was 18 and they first came out. She's currently at Steve's Bavarian out here in Oregon getting new fork seals, a new alternator belt and some new shoes (Michelin Road 5!). I put about 500 miles on it so far and I've been having a blast. The roads here outside of Portland are just a motorcyclists dream with barely any traffic compared to VA where I came from.

Looking for some new riding buddies if anyone is local!

Michael

Michael, welcome to the forum!

That motorcycle--especially yellow!--is the exact reason I ever was interested in BMWs. I fell in love with a yellow R1100S years ago and today is still the only BMW I have ever lusted after. I have ridden, and had the opportunity to buy, several S models over the years, but they just were not the one I loved.

Used to be a couple of guys (don't remember names or website) who rode around the country on R1100Ss and wrote a daily blog. I read them daily and wanted their lifestyle--and bikes--so much it actually made my heart ache.

Again, welcome to the forum and good luck.

Hey, welcome to the forum and congrats on the bike! It's awesome to finally get something that's been in your mind for so long!

Thanks guys!

It's so nice to have a comfortable bike for the first time in a long time. I just finished with the Harley/cruiser experiment and that riding position just killed me. It was like being a sail in the wind and I had to hold on to the handlebar to stop from being blown off. I've been finding myself going on longer and longer rides, with no fatigue, and feeling refreshed when I arrive.

Also, with the full Remus exhaust, it sounds absolutely wonderful!

I like the looks of the slim City Lids on the bags.

I wish BMW still sold City Lids for the current side cases.

Congrats on the new scooter.... she's a beauty.

Try not to drive any faster than you can see.... Besides it's all in the reflexes!
