R1200RT Tail Light Screws

Replacing bulbs in my R1200RT tail light assembly and the 2 mounting screws have disappeared into the Black Hole that lurks in a MC garage/shop. New ones are backordered.... :banghead ...I didn't look real hard, cuz it's way too hot in my garage to spend any time crawling around on the floor! So this is a lazy man's request for info.

Anyone replaced these with a hardware store type screw? What size did you use?

What year is your RT? For my '09 the fiche says "5 x 12". My guess is an M5 x 12 bolt would work. Shouldn't be too expensive to test that.

When my clumsy-ass fingers drop something and my old eyes don't spot it, I'll get a flashlight and get on my knees down to floor level - shine the light horizontally across the floor, and even if the part doesn't show up, its shadow will.

LOL...been there done that...flash light trick too...ya might try magnetizing the tip of your #2 phillips screw driver...:)
 
I've taken to ordering a few of the likely unfindable screws to keep around. M6x15,20 mostly. However, when my valve cover screws went AWOL I was able to find a stainless cap screw of the same size at ACE Hardware. I'm checking to see if it tries to corrode in spot, also it is harder than AL.
