How to remove my Bing CV Type I slides (two screw diaphragm covers)?

I hope this isn't 'double posting'. I have another parts question running about these carbs. But this is a specific issue.

I've got two manuals in my shop that cover my 1983 R65. Unfortunately they are not specific to my year/model, but cover the range. On carburetors both manuals illustrate exploded views of Bing CV Type I and Type II. Type I has two screws securing the diaphragm cover and Type II has four. The instructions note that both carbs are the same except for a few differently located parts. But subsequent instructions are only provided for the type II. Evidently to disassemble and remove the slide from the type II the four screws are removed and the slide is simply lifted out.

On my Type I... I remove the two screws but when lifting the cover it seems to be held to the carb body by the slide spring. The spring does not release. Do I need to disassembly something on the bowl side of the body to release the slides?

Sure it's not the choke spring on the side that is doing that?

No, both throttle and choke cables are fully removed. However... I'll look closer.

I'm at work and away from the bike but I think you may be correct? Sorry for the premature post. If the choke spring connects to the diaphragm
cover out of sight then it must be what I'm overlooking.
