What does this breather hole connect to?

As you can see, I have some oil weeping from this hole. It's location close to the oil filler would make it seem like the breather hole connects to the crankcase, but it would seem foolish for there to be an open hole into the oil supply. Anyone know what's on the other side of this hole?

It's a drain for the upper part of the starter cavity. If oil is seeping out there, the tubes that carry oil mist from the breather to the carbs have become disconnected or cracked. You'll need to pull the stater cover and investigate.
