    K1100RS Air Accumulator Box question

Bwoods1100's 1996 K1100RS is slowly but slowly going back together. We found that two of the four hoses coming off the Air Accumulator Box (item 7) have cracks in them. According to the Max BMW fiche shown here, these are not individual items. We'd like to repair or replace all four, just for good measure. Can anyone offer any advice on a good repair, or a suitable replacement? Thanks in advance!

You could try getting a good complete used replacement from any of the many recyclers listed in the Owners News.

Or, if you want to try replacing just the hose, consider the properties required.

Only clean air goes through it since it is between the air filter and the throttle bodies. So no special chemical resistance is required.
The air is being sucked through it. So it must have crush resistance to a vacuum.
It is on top of the engine. So it must have some heat resistance.
It's just under 2" in diameter.

My thought would be to try some 2" shopvac hose.

It comes in many styles of corrugations, depending on the brand, so you can pick the style you like best. It's always black, so no problem there. It's fairly cheap for a 6' length.

Let us know what you decide or find.

Thanks for the great suggestions, 98lee. Maybe I'll just wander through Lowe's or Home Depot to get some ideas. Will let you know what worked!
