    Front axle shaft Lube

Front wheel off for new tire. Need a little lube on axle...what's recommended?

Wheel bearing grease works fine on the surface of the axle before reassembly. Avoid Red Loctite for this step.

All you are trying to do is prevent the axle from rusting and becoming difficult to remove. A thin film of any automotive grease will do the job.

I added a bit to your title as it will make it easier to help others find the information.
I will move this to HEX/CAM later.

YMMV, but I've never put anything on any of the axles I've reinstalled in my bikes. In fact, I tend to wipe them down a bit.

Assuming this is a newer bike with sealed bearings, you might in addition want to pack some of the "any NLGI #2 grease will do" grease around the outside of the wheel bearing seals before you put the axle spacers on as an extra deterrent to water getting at the seals of the sealed bearings.

As recommended in the BMW RSD DVD I use Castrol Optimoly Paste TA

    or Honda Moly 60

    You can get it from:
    https://www.motobins.co.uk/

    or

    https://www.5150motorsport.com/castr...43-305-08.html

Apparently the Honda Moly 60 has been discontinued

If you can park it, and not turn around to admire it before walking away, you bought the wrong one.

I've always used anti-seize lubricant. Can't remember why, but never had any problems.
