Over heating

'Twasn't a theory; I've read (a while ago) that some city's motor officers actually did a study and concluded that a flap or extension up front definitely reduced the rear flats. Considering that they sometimes need to ride on debris-laden areas (between lanes, on shoulders, etc.), that's fairly significant.

GSAW factory lowered, 89,000 miles, all except 1,000 on pavement from the East Coast to Alaska. No radiator guard, no fender extender. No radiator holes, no flats.

Of course that could change tomorrow but I'll stick with my setup.

I think mine was a freak accident but for peace of mind I had the guards put on. My last bike was a Goldwing with114,000 miles and never had a problem.
