I have a 2017 BMW 1200 RT. Purchased new and currently I have 700 miles on it. Scheduled a first tune up appointment. From day one the bike will not shift into 3rd on the first try. It will go into third on the second attempt every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

That is a puzzler. Be sure to have the dealer thech this out, and, they don't all do that.

That said, this type of problem is sometimes an issue of lazy toe, or too soft a boot top, or a bad adjustment of the pedal.

Welcome to the forum!
Sorta along the lines of what Paul said, I would try riding/operating the bike with a completely different pair of shoes and.........try to stop thinking about it.
Good luck.

Historically, Beemers have required a "deliberate" action to shift, unlike the Japanese bikes where a "snick" does it, or an older Harley where a larger movement was required.
But this a new Wethead - thought they are NOT supposed to do that...
When you take it in, be specific about whether it happens when shifting up and/or down, and if it ever happens with 2nd or 4th gears.

I had same problem with my 17GSA. At 600 miles took it to dealer they notice something(forgot exactly what it was) so they updated software. No more problems.
