Riding my 71 R75/5 in high altitude???

Greetings, Im thinking about taking my R75/5 to the mountains this summer for riding. Are there any modifications to the timing &/or carbs I need to prepare for?

The CV carbs on the R75/5 tend to have some self compensation built into the design. Unless you're going to transfer and stay at the high altitude for weeks and months, I wouldn't make any changes. You might feel somewhat less pep if you're really trying to hammer the engine.

Snowbum has a discussion about this at the bottom of this page:

I had an airhead for many years and regularly rode it at high altitudes, with no carb mods. Here it is (in the background) on the Beartooth Plateau, at 10,000 feet, with apologies for the poor picture quality:

The vacuum carbs work fine at high altitudes.
