2007K1200gt question on tank bags

That's different than the one I've seen.

Here's the bag I was thinking of.

I've got the same as Lee+ for long trips it's great.

Good test, turn handle bars lock 2 lock...no horn, Good thing!

Plenty of room+ waterproof.

Bummer that you'll miss the nat'l, but I'm betting you'll have a Great trip. Best, Rog

thanks 67207, I'm not liking missing the National but this is a trip of a lifetime with two guys that are my age and have the same goals for the trip in mind. May never find two like minded people to do that ride again in a decade, there's always next year's national.

I have the same bag for my GT. It has been great. You can score them off of the K bike forum or Ibmw and sometimes eBay. The last 2 that I bought , I paid less than $100 a piece and one was like new.

Thanks for the links sir. Can you tell me how and where the straps attach to the tank? The description really doesn't give much about the "how" to;

Thanks

The yoke strap has Velcro and goes around the steering head. It has one buckle at the front of the bag. The other cup piece, you attach to the bottom of the tank cover (remove the seat). I think on the new ones they provide some Velcro material or quicklock (that’s what I have in mine). Then you replace the seat and attach the other two straps. For gas stops, I usually just unclip the front strap and tilt the bag backwards...

Just to update those who kindly responded to my query on a tank bag for my trip to Alaska.

I've decided to take a small waterproof backpack and strap it to the top of the dry bag sitting on the rear seat and top of the panniers. I'm just looking for something that I can get into quickly for license, passport, go pro etc. The small pack won't have to come off where it's strapped down until I need to get to the camping equipment at the end of the day.

If someone feels this is not a good idea, I'm all ears as to why?

Thanks again everyone, this place is great.
