Traveling in the Northeast - suggestions?

My wife and I will be traveling thru the Northeast from Florida this summer on our way to ride the Cabot Trail. We stay off of Interstates and ride the back roads of America when we tour. What are some recommendations on roads, places to stay, things to see and do, etc.

On the way to the Cabot Trail, stop in New Brunswick at the Hopewell Rocks, preferably at low tide. :dance

Bit of a detour off the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island is Fortress Louisbourg; well worth the visit. :thumb

If you are camping and are looking for a rugged campsite, well off the beaten path, with a sometimes interesting gravel road taking you there, check out Meat Cove.

All I’m going to say is that if you really want to go north east you need to come to Newfoundland, it doesn’t get more north east than that.:blah

Malclingan,

As this thread has nothing to do with Flying Brick Kbikes, I'm moving it to "Just Riding" where you will probably get more suggestions.

To the suggestions given already, add --

US301 north out of S Georgia to US21 north to Mt Airy, NC (hometown of Andy Griffith & model for Mayberry). Then pick up the Blue Ridge just north of Mt Airy.

Once you make it to New York, SR 7 is a great road!

Enjoy the adventure!

Head all the way up to Acadia National park in Maine. Spectacular scenery and excellent seafood. It's one of my favorite destinations.

Camden, Maine is a nice spot. We went out on a sailboat excursion and it was very enjoyable.

Whale watching out of Bar Harbor is nice, too, as well as some other boat trips from Bar Harbor that give a tour of that area.
