'Speed Queen' Valerie Thompson aiming to break 376 mph motorcycle record this weekend

Everyone shoud have a bike that you have to shift out of second gear at 200 MPH. Be sure to watch the video.

THAT is pretty cool! I L-O-V-E the sound of the engine, and quite an amazing thing...good for Valerie.

Classy and gutsy lady. She was so nice at the Sedalia Rally - came over to all the gates my staff was manning (I was Gates Chair that year) and signed photos for everyone. Chatted with her and has a really nice personality.

Hope she has safe runs and breaks the record!

Ya, what a poser she must be. To date, she has only gone 304 MPH and 217 MPH on a street bike. A guy like you probably does that once a week.

Not to take anything away from Valerie, but check out Jody Perewitz going over 200 mph on an American v twin. It sounds sweet.

Pretty cool also, but the guy interviewing her sounds like he just left the biker bar .

She had an accident. That is news.

What she was trying to do, and failed at, is fake news. Substitute 600 mph and the story doesn't change.

What she has done in the past is old news.

BTW, that is the most contrived ad hom I've ever seen.

She’s doing this in Australia under the auspices of Dry Lakes Racers Australia. They have a Facebook page (I am not on Facebook) and they have a website (http://www.dlra.org.au).

I think Valerie deserves to be on the cover after yesterday running the fastest speed ever by a female on a motorcycle 328mph.

Valerie Thompson Racing and Team 7 Racing suffered a crash at speedon Monday 19 March, at Lake Gairdner during day three of the World Speed Trials Australia. Fortunately Thompson walked away from the stunning wreck with only minor injuries.

Conditions were ideal in the morning, as anticipated, and Team 7 Racing set out to make their attempt at the all-time FIM World Record, aiming for speeds near 400 mph. Thompson had passed the four-mile marker and reported being at 299 mph when the trouble started. Chase vehicles saw the tail end of the streamliner come up in the air, but the chutes were deployed which helped stabilize the resulting crash. The wreckage was spread out along nearly a mile of the course.

The team is currently assessing the damage and reviewing the incident. Owner Denis Manning and the rest of Team 7 Racing are relieved Thompson was able to walk away from the crash, and were glad to report that the safety equipment all performed as intended.

The streamliner left an impressive trench along the edge of the course, but there was no major damage to the track, which remains in near-perfect condition. Cleanup has taken place and racing is back underway for the rest of the contenders at the final day of the World Speed Trials Australia.OTE]
