1150 & 1100 Trailer Hitches

A friend who has a R1150RT has found a trailer hitch (with wiring) from a R1100RT. Will the hitch and wiring from the 1100 fit and work on the 1150? My guess is the hitch should fit his 1150 but I really don't know about the wiring compatability.

That probably depends on what model of hitch he has found. I had a hitch for my R1150RT that mounted to the same bolt that the torsion bar fastened to and if memory serves me correctly that is part of the transmission. The transmissions on the two bikes are different.

Paul. If the hitch in question is a Bushtec hitch then go to the Bushtec website and cross reference the bike models , that should let you know. That’s if it’s a Bushtec hitch of course

As it turns out, it is a Bushtec hitch and on the Bushtec website, it shows different hitches for the two bikes. He'll have to pass on the hitch.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I just checked out the Bushtec site and the two hitch’s are configured differently where they mount under the transmission

Hitch

I have a Denray hitch that was on a R1100RT which I purchased with a Third Wheel trailer. The hitch bolted up to my R1150RT with no problems. The only problem I have is a speed wobble at highway speed which I am still working on fixing.

I have a Bushtec hitch from my R1150RT that I would part with if your friend is still looking. I do not have the wirning adapter but they are pretty universal or can be bought from Bushtec. I don't need the hitch any long as I went to a sidecar rig and made a hitch to go between the sidecar and bike. I also went to LED lighting on the trailer and so just wire directly into the bikes wiring.

Please pm me, with your price for the hitch and either your email address or telephone # that I can pass along to Wayne.

Thank you very much.
