Head stud o-rings on a R75/5

Greetings, here I go again, overthinking. Does the o-ring around the head stud sleeve, seal anything, or is it to provide cushioning for the rockers? If you all want to call me a dumb ass, you won’t hurt my feelings, after 35 years of working with pipeliners, I’m use to it.

The o-ring is used to seal the ends of the pushrod tubes...you can see the gap with the head. Anton discusses this here:

Thanks for the link. With the help I’ve received here, and all of the great information out there on these bikes, it may be hard to go back to England.
