can i replace the two oil coolers on my 1995 with a single oil cooler?

I am in the process of doing some work on a recently purchased 1995 R1100R and would like to replace the existing two oil coolers with a single oil cooler mounted at the front top of the engine just below headlight height. Any suggestions?

You could mount a single GS oil cooler at that location. I did that on an R1150R once and it worked fine. Make sure everything clears at full suspension compression.

I'm installing a GS tank on my 96 R1100r and am also interested in replacing the coolers.

Anyone have specifics on oil line configuration to mount the GS cooler.

Im also looking for info on seats that will fit this combination.

Thanks!

The GS and the R have shared frame layouts since the early nineties (R100R / R100GS). I don't have any 1100 experience, but as late as the 1150's this was still the case. So if it was true before and after the 1100, it may well be true with the 1100. I put an entire GS suspension on my R1150R which raised the suspension to provide ground clearance for my R1150GS Jesse luggage as well as dropping the footpegs 3-1/2" for more legroom. All of the parts interchange - if you transfer them in sets. For instance, the GS footpegs could be used, but that required using the GS brake pedal and even the GS brake master cylinder and hose. Now the pegs are too low without the GS shock length and paralever torque arm. Now the R center and sidestands are too short and the GS parts need to be used. I could have used a GS seat if used with a GS tank. In the 1200 series, it got more difficult because, among other things, the seatpeg mounts were welded to the frame instead of bolting them on. So at that point the frames, though still similar, were physically different.
