Should be in zone 3. This zone includes the states from Montana south to New Mexico and from North Dakota south to Texas. Last time it was held in zone 3 the rally was in Billings, MT. My guess would be that it will be in Colorado or Wyoming. There is a unsubstantiated rumor that Fargo, North Dakota is in the running.... 😱

I have posted before. I will post now. I will post again.

There is only one logical choice for this rally: Fargo. North Dakota. Take it to the bank, or at least the payday loan guys.

p.s. I heard that Odessa, Texas - known as Slowdeatha to regional residents wanted a shot but was laughed out of the hotel conference room, never to ever return. But unlike Fargo this is only a rumor.

Last year, on my way to Salt Lake City, when we rode down off of Grand Mesa it was 106 degrees in Grand Junction. Unsuitable, unlike the pleasant setting in the Red River Valley at Fargo.

Aahhh, Fargo... decades ago I raced indoor winter shorttrack at the Red River Valley fairgrounds, and summers car racing at the speedway there. Bun-freezing weather in the winter, suffocating humidity and ‘skeeters in the summer. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Great Plains and don’t at all consider it “fly-over” country. But I prefer destinations that allow one to ride back UP the winding mountain road for relief when the descent has been into an inferno.

And Kevin—Minot, ND? A sweet spot? I spent a year working near there, a lifetime ago, and even the locals figured that only on an ICBM targeting list would it be considered a sweet spot...

But in reality, we will likely all show up wherever it is held.

Along US 50 at the east edge of Dodge City there is a pull-off on the south side of the highway. For many years the Kansas DOT sign read, "Scenic Overlook". If a person were to pull into this area and look down from the bluff they would see a "scenic" feedlot with a few thousand cows. Now, and for the past few years the sign simply reads, "Overlook."

For better or for worse Voni and I have actually been in each and every one of these cities. But, we've been in Fargo too. If fact, I actually went to Fargo on spring break back when I was in college.
