This fall my 85K100RS with the large handed brake lever went "soft." It got close to my pinky knuckle before full braking despite recent bleeding and a fluid change.
Problem: One of my Front rotors CRACKED. I noticed weeks later when I started to replace my front tire, the ft. pads had not worn through yet but the pair on the cracked side didn't have much left.
The low limit is listed at 0.140 inches, my cracked pair measured about 0.132 in. I expect that with each tire rotation, jumping the crack caused many problems in my front brake system yielding a soft lever. I've been using Stainless Steel lines for years.
200 miles today with new(er) OEM rotors 0.164 thick, new OEM pads, a new tire, topped up fluid and the system is back to awesome, the lever is high and hard. I can't be sure how many miles are on the cracked OEM rotor.
