Want to lift and move sideways against garage wall - anything gonna get damaged underneath?

You may need to block the lift as it seems the header collector may be an issue after you remove the belly plastic.

Making assumption it is the two parallel lift pads perpendicular to the lift frame?
I don't recall ever being successful with that style lift, though pretty sure I tried.

Yes 2 parallel lift pads
Removing the plastic would make it easy/easier

I was hoping to pick it up move it over and drop it in an out of the way space in the garage
Probly gonna have to make some block to facilitate the pickup, at least the forward pickup point.
Did that with an airhead I had some years ago - worked out nice

It sounds like you are getting to the point that using the lift is getting inconvenient. Perhaps a dedicated moving device is in order. There is a discussion of several options at: https://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?90641-Park-n-Move-by-Legal-Speeding.
