Bonnie & Clyde Death Site Memorial - Gibsland, Louisiana

The preceding thread on Ballarat, California and the Manson connection got me thinking about some photos I made in Louisiana a couple of years ago. I was heading home from California on my 2008 RT and learned about site where Bonnie and Clyde had died on May 23, 1934. I was on US80 and headed south on LA154 and found the site. Here's a photo of the monument which was erected there in 1935. In the years since, it's apparent that pieces of the stone have been chipped off, and more than a few firearms have been discharged at it.

When I walked closer, I realized that there was a live cartridge which someone had left atop the monument. Turns out it was a 9mm hollow point.

As a former law enforcement officer, it was interesting for me to see this place. Looking at the road, it was an ideal location for an ambush. It's not too far off US 80 and I-20 (intersection of LA 154) and maybe worth a trip. Watch the Faye Dunaway/Warren Beatty movie before you go.
