I have wanted a BMW for more than 50 years. At one point I had a deposit down and loan approved for a brand new R90S. But my bride explained there were more important things then a new Motorcycle. I have had my share of bikes. Many I raced. Had a rep for building very fast Jap in line fours. Even held a NHRA national record for a while.

After about 20 years without a bike, I few years back l bought a pice of Honda lawn art. I completely rebuilt it and restored it. Suddenly I had the bug again. I sold the Honda and got a Vmax that had been sitting for a number of years. (This was the third time I owned a VMax. New in ‘84, new in ‘93, and a used ‘97 in 2013). Inrebuild and “improved “ that bike, but sold it to get a down payment on a house. I’m retired now, have had some health issues, and live alone with my fur babies. (One of wich is going to be fixed on Tuesday, even though he dosent seem to have anything wrong)

So now I have a ‘91 K100 LT. Dosent run, and has 139,000 miles on it, but it is mine, and it is a BMW and it only cost me $500

So I figured out how to get to the battery, and it charged up and it holding a charge. Engine cranks over but no fire. Runs on starter fluid. The tank is now cleaned out and I have a aftermarket fuel pump installed which make suitable winey noises. Today I will get some pure gas (E0) and see where it leads us.

I did order a Clymer shop manuel, and found the bmw manuel on line.

Plan for the near future is to take out each plug and squrt a little oil in each hole. Then I hope to make some smoke without the aid of starter fluid. ( I know, best laid plans). So far my biggest problem seems to be getting thing broken loose. Also need to find 4 flat head screws to replace the ones that used to be Phillips head and now are easyout heads. Also will find replacement for 3 Allen head cap screws that took a real beating getting out.

I assume I need a new clutch cable. The the clutch lever is very hard, and doesn’t feel right. Hopefully the cable and exposed pivot points are all that is wrong.

I have little service history on the bike. Previous owner claims he had it it to BMW dealer and they did a $1200 service just before his stroke (when the bike was put in storage)

It’s a bit soon to be buying plates, but I think I’m making progress. If I weren’t so fat and old, this would move a lot faster, but it’s cold out there and I have to work in short visits.

So “hello”

Welcome. It is likely that the fuel injectors are clogged after sitting for a prolonged period. Reconditioned ones are available on eBay. A specialist shop might be able to backflow yours and get them clean too.
